What is a Green Evolution?

Earthweek 2009's theme is meant to bring out the positive adaptations our society has been making following realizations over the past few decades of the impact our industrial habits and commercial way of life has on the environment upon which we rely. What signs do we have of this evolution? Investment is being made in green innovations--in the automotive industry, in alternative energy research, and on the UC Berkeley campus. Companies feel the pressure from consumers to make more eco-friendly products. Each and every one of us has the resources to discover what we can do to decrease our own emmissions footprint. Finally, we have an administration willing to address climate change and other large environmental issues. Through all this and more, we can mirror the larger ecological system of which we are part and overcome today's environmental challenges via conscious evolution towards a greener future.
